Click Champ

2D Casual / Reaction

Role: Solo Developer Engine: Unity 2D Platform: PC (Unity Play)

Overview

Click Champ is a 2D reaction-based casual game. Targets appear from the bottom of the screen — good targets score points, bad targets cost lives. The player must click fast and accurately, avoiding the bad ones. Built as an early Unity project to practice 2D spawning systems, mouse input handling, and UI programming in C#.

Key Programming Features

  • → Random target spawner that generates good and bad targets at varied positions along the bottom edge
  • → Click detection on 2D sprites using Physics2D raycasting against the mouse position
  • → Penalty and reward system — good targets add score, bad targets subtract lives
  • → Speed escalation — targets move faster and spawn more frequently as the game progresses
  • → Lives system with game over state and score display screen at the end of a run
  • → Animated target movement using simple Translate and Lerp for smooth upward travel

What I Learned

Click Champ was one of my first complete Unity projects from start to finish — concept, code, and publish. Even though it's a simple game, getting it to a shippable state taught me about build settings, resolution handling, and what it actually means to finish something. Every programmer needs a few 'finished small things' to build the habit of shipping.
